Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Woodland Hills Team Behind Hadley Chimney Woodland Hills
Hadley Chimney Woodland Hills has been climbing roofs and running camera lines through flues across the San Fernando Valley since 2003. The crew you’ll see at your door isn’t a rotating cast of subcontractors. It’s the same small group of background-checked, uniformed technicians month after month, led by Cory Mitchell, who still carries his own ladder and runs his own inspections. What unites everyone on this team is a stubborn belief that you deserve to see exactly what they see inside your chimney, before you spend a dollar fixing it.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Cory Mitchell, Owner & Lead Chimney Technician
Cory founded Hadley in 2003 and has spent the years since doing the work most company owners delegate to someone else: the inspections, the sweeps, the tricky liner installs. He holds a CSIA certification and has specialized training in HeatShield ceramic repair application and DuraFlex flexible liner systems, two brands the company uses because he’s seen what holds up in California’s dry heat and earthquake country. If you book a job in Woodland Hills, there’s a good chance the person who shows up to diagnose your chimney is the same person who answers the phone when you call to book it. He’s the kind of owner who, after a particularly gnarly firebox inspection in Tarzana, will tell you straight that the previous homeowner’s DIY patch job probably looked fine from the couch, but he’s got photos from the inside that tell a different story. Off the clock, he’s rebuilding a 1968 Mustang coupe in his garage, a project his crew has standing permission to make fun of.
Marcus D., Senior Installer & Repair Specialist
Marcus has been with Hadley for eleven years, long enough that he’s installed more than 200 liners across the Valley and the Westside. His specialty is stainless steel relining and flue resurfacing, and he’s certified on the Gelco and Olympia Chimney product lines. When a job needs masonry crown repair or a chimney cap that actually fits the odd dimensions of a 1950s Woodland Hills rancher, Marcus is the one measuring twice. He’s the guy who can tell you, from the street, whether a chimney chase on a mid-century modern is decorative or functional, without even taking his tool belt off. He’s also the team’s unofficial pitmaster; when someone on the crew calls out sick, Marcus brings a batch of smoked tri-tip to the shop the next Monday as a bribe to keep the schedule moving.
Sofia R., Service Coordinator
Sofia is the voice on the other end of the phone when you call (559) 249-1347, and she’s been with Hadley for eight years. She knows the service area block by block, which matters when you call to ask how quickly the team can reach your place near Warner Center versus a home off Topanga Canyon Boulevard. Sofia built the scheduling system that gives every customer a live arrival window and a text when the truck is en route, part of the Relay Visibility Guarantee that Hadley operates under. She’s also fluent in the kind of question that stumps most callers: whether a gas fireplace that won’t stay lit is a thermocouple problem, a gas valve issue, or something worth a service call. When she’s not wrangling the crew’s schedule, she’s coaching her daughter’s AYSO team in Winnetka and has been known to reschedule a sweep around a playoff game.
Devon P., Apprentice Technician & Camera Specialist
Devon joined Hadley three years ago after finishing trade school in the Valley, and he’s the one running the inspection camera through the tightest flues the team encounters. Every before-and-after photo you’ll see in your digital report scrolls through Devon’s tablet before it reaches your inbox, and he’s meticulous about capturing the exact spot where creosote (the flammable tar buildup that makes chimneys a fire risk) is thickest. He’s working toward full CSIA certification under Cory’s supervision and already handles residential gas fireplace diagnostics on his own. Devon grew up in Woodland Hills, and his knowledge of local homes isn’t academic: he’s seen the inside of enough 1970s chimneys on Dumetz Road and Mulholland Drive to know which builders cut corners. He plays bass in a punk band that practices in a Canoga Park storage unit, which explains the hearing protection he takes more seriously than anyone else on the crew.
One Standard, Every Job
Every name above works under the same set of rules Hadley Chimney Woodland Hills has operated by since 2003. A written price before any work starts, every time. A written guarantee on every repair, backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise and a free second visit if the repair fails. Before-and-after photo documentation included on every job through the Relay Visibility Guarantee, so you can see the condition of your flue before anyone asks you to spend money on it. The techs use materials from DuraFlex, HeatShield, Gelco, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield because those are the brands that last. And when you call, a live person answers. No voicemail loops, no callback queue. That’s The Relay Standard, and it applies whether you’re getting a standard sweep in Calabasas or a full liner replacement in Hidden Hills.
