Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Heavy Creosote Removal in a Woodland Hills Wood-Burning Fireplace
Before
AfterThe homeowner had been burning unseasoned wood for two winters, which had left a thick glaze of creosote across the upper third of the flue. In Woodland Hills, where winter fires alternate with long damp spells, that glaze gets sticky and traps soot in layers. Our technician ran rotary rods and a chimney whip through the full length of the flue, then camera-verified that no glaze remained. The after photos show bare clay tile from smoke shelf to cap.
Smoky Fireplace Turned Draft-Friendly in Tarzana
Before
AfterEvery cold evening, smoke rolled into the living room instead of up the stack. The culprit was a combination of a packed ash pit, a damper that had been forced past its stop years ago, and four feet of compacted creosote above the smoke shelf. We swept the full flue, vacuumed the ash pit with a commercial HEPA vac, and got the damper seating flush again. The fire now draws in under ten seconds from a cold start.
Gas Fireplace Deep Clean and Log Refit in Woodland Hills
Before
AfterA gas fireplace that hasn’t been serviced in years builds up a chalky mineral film on the logs and a spider-web of dust inside the burner ports. That leads to yellow, sooty flames and that vague “burning dust” smell in the first minutes of operation. We disassembled the log set, blew out and wiped down the burner assembly, cleaned each log individually, and reset them to the manufacturer’s layout. The flame is blue and even again, and the hearth doesn’t smell when it fires up.
Birds’ Nest Eviction and Cap Replacement in West Hills

The homeowner called because a light, papery odor had been drifting down the chimney for a week. From the roof, our tech found a full birds’ nest jammed between the cap and the flue tile, with the old cap rusted through in two places. We removed the nest material carefully, swept the debris out of the flue, and installed a proper stainless steel cap with fine mesh. The odor was gone the same day, and nothing has moved back in since.
Water-Damaged Firebox Repair with HeatShield in Woodland Hills

Years of Pacific moisture working its way down an uncapped flue had left the firebox mortar crumbling and two bricks pushed out of plane. The owner wanted to know whether the fireplace was still safe to burn in. After a camera inspection showed the firebox was structurally sound but the mortar was shot, we re-pointed the joints and applied HeatShield ceramic repair compound over the firebrick surface. The before photos show open cracks you could slide a quarter into. The after photos show a sealed, smooth, burn-ready firebox.
Chimney Liner Resleeve with DuraFlex in Woodland Hills

A furnace inspection turned up a chimney liner with a horizontal crack running across three tiles, which is exactly the kind of defect that can let carbon monoxide into the house. We showed the homeowner the camera footage on the spot, and he agreed to a resleeve rather than a partial repair. The old clay tiles came out in sections, and a DuraFlex flexible stainless liner went in through the full flue length. The after photos show a smooth, continuous liner wall with no seams or cracks anywhere.
